Jim Wise Demolition Begins Demolition Works at Stowupland High School

August 14, 2025

Jim Wise Demolition is proud to announce the start of a new project at Stowupland High School, Stowmarket.

The works involve the complete demolition and clearance of the former Block E classrooms, bringing the buildings down to slab level to remove any potential fire or safety risks. The buildings are presumed to be steel framed with a timber and tile roof structure.

Our team will follow a strict demolition sequence to ensure maximum safety and minimal disruption:

  • Site setup & welfare facilities – The site is fully secure with controlled access, welfare facilities, and daily safety inductions.
  • Soft strip – Removal of internal non-structural elements such as fixtures, fittings, and partitions.
  • Mechanical demolition – Working in the reverse order of construction, the roof and walls will be carefully dismantled using specialist plant and attachments.
  • Materials segregation – All materials will be separated for recycling or safe disposal in accordance with current legislation.
  • Dust & noise control – Dust suppression measures will be in place throughout, alongside noise reduction practices in line with BS5228.
  • Environmental care – Trees on site, including memorial trees, will be protected or relocated.

We are working within the guidelines of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, with a focus on protecting the public, school community, and our workforce.

Once complete, the site will be left clean, tidy, and ready for the next stage of development.
